Scholarship Opportunity


Applications for the Denise I. Griffiths CPAM Scholarship are due March 1, 2020. This is a an $8000 scholarship awarded annually to a high school senior who is planning a course of study that leads to a degree to teach Mathematics. Nominations for the scholarship are made by dues paying members of CPAM. Nominations Open for Distinguished Mathematics Instruction


The Awards Committee of the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Montana State University is seeking nominees for two awards for distinguished mathematics instruction. The awards are generously funded by Dr. William A. Stannard, Retired Professor of Mathematics and long-time MCTM member.

One award honors a Montana Teacher of Mathematics (any grade, K-12) who has distinguished themselves as “having been superior not only in imparting mathematical knowledge but in motivational academic efforts.” Please fill out this simple nomination form if you know of a K-12 Montana teacher who meets these criteria.

One award honors a Montana College Teacher of Mathematics who has distinguished themselves as “having been superior not only in imparting mathematical knowledge but in motivational academic efforts.” Please fill out this simple nomination form if you know of a college teacher who meets these criteria and teaches in Montana at any college or university (other than Montana State University in Bozeman).

Scholarship Opportunity


The Department of Teaching and Learning (T&L) in the Phyllis J. Washington College of Education is honored to invite applications for the 2020-21 Alice Lee Lund Excellence in Teaching Award. This prestigious fellowship for Montana residents is renewable for up to two consecutive years (5 semesters), providing funding availability and satisfactory academic progress and service. The award recipient is expected to be a full time student while receiving the fellowship and will serve as an ambassador for the Phyllis J. Washington College of Education to include mentoring pre-education students at UM.

Anticipated Value:    $10,000 stipend (full academic year)
                                    Tuition Waiver (Includes full-time tuition (9 credits) and UM fees.                                                             (Health insurance costs are not included.)

Award Period:           2020-21 (Renewable for up to two consecutive years (5 semesters),                                                 contingent upon funding availability, satisfactory academic progress,                      and service contributions.)

Criteria:                      Must be a Montana resident; Full admission to the C&I M.Ed program; Maintain full-time enrollment (9 credits each semester); Qualified applicants have taught or plan to teach in Montana after obtaining their master’s degree; Academic excellence, leadership abilities, and potential for excellence as a Montana P-12 teacher upon program completion.
